Sorry guys, can't think of a better heading.

I have received a number of favourable comments recently and notice that the actual number of points varies according to the rep points of the poster.

Can somebody please explain the points allocation system (eg - get a good rep from Minux and you get 10 points)?

And if this is a pre-existing thread, my apologies - I've looked but not found it.

its called Rep weight i believe, but yeah the amount of points you get for rep is based on how many points the person that gives it has.

If i remember right i got 7 For a rep from Jecs

If Minux gives out 10 and has the most rep in JC's - I'd say 10 is the max.

When an Executive you give out 1 rep point for positive rep.
Barlina would be 2, Calais 3, Stato 4.....

I'm guessing at that ^^ :)

Nah, mods have a limit of +10 and -5, if we feel like more or less we can modify.

If i was to rep not as a mod I believe it is like +18 -9. Its around 50% for neg rep.

It all works on time registered X rep points you have X posts.

I can't find the list that changes weighting. I guess it must have changed though since i last looked. It used to something like this - if you gave too much rep your ability would be cut short, to what degree i don't know. If you were a new member you could only give zero rep. Moderators and admin automatically had a higher ability to give rep.

Like i said maybe it's different now but the points people were able to give wasn't influenced by the ones they had received.

Ok here is a better run down:

For every 365 days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 1000 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

For every 100 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Ok, so it's quite a complicated equation. At present, I have 145 points, 600+ posts and member since Nov 07, so I assume that my rep points would be 3?
