I just got my 94 VR exec and was wondering does it have a fuel light? in the manual it explains that it should come on as a test when the ignition is turned on but turn itself off when the engine is started (if fitted).. *if fitted being the keyword* i turned on the ignition and failed to see a fuel light on the dash. the fuelguage has been on empty 4 a while now if theres no fuel light maybe i should fill it up
you could get a light a shine it onto the dash and have a look to see if its there. i noticed while driving that if light is on the right angle you can see if its there. but then again my VS had one for ABS ( i think) which it doesnt have.
Take the cluster out, or? The easiest way is to take the cluster out. If you have small, strong fingers and know where it is, you might succeed in extracting it with the cluster still installed. I managed to get one out, but could not reinsert it.
i didn't have to take the cluster out to install me cruise lights in the dash. just remove the panel under the stering colum and it is awekward but look up you shoud b able to see the back of the gloves, then just get a pair of needle nose pliers adn turn the bulbs anti clock wise. fit one if not already there, or swap with another if thtere to see if it has blow (if you can't identify weather it is or not)
i just checked then and it does have a fuel light, Awesome. 2 morow i plan to check to see if it has/ blown the globe, does anyone have or know of a simple guide on how to do this? thanxs
I have a series 1 VR exec and when I took my instrument cluster out on the weekend (to replace the odometer gear... great howto btw) I noticed that there is no globe in the low fuel position - just a white circular sticker over the hole. Now it's probably a good thing that I found this out because I have run my car quite low before and assumed it had a warning light (because I saw one in the past on a VR... althougth that might have been a higher spec car). So the question is - is the bulb just missing (i.e. if I replace it will I have a functioning warning light) or is there no fuel sensor at all on the executive?
http://forums.justcommodores.com.au/showthread.php?t=20560 This shows you step by step how to get to the lights.
When I went in to replace the odometer gear I also soldered in a globe (there was no holder for the bulb, but there was exposed copper terminals on the circuit sheet) in the low-fuel light position. Guess next time I'm running really low I might find out whether it worked or not. Is there a separate sensor or limit switch in the tankto activate this warning? I suppose what I should do it trace it back to it's origins and see whether there's a sensor to set off the warning.
