Wreckers would pay $500-$1000 all depends on classification whether it's repairable/financial statutory writeoff or not.

Aside from that you'd get first choice of buy back which is either set figure or percentage of the value.

If rail damage is section in front of swaybar then repairing it won't be too hard to do yourself....quoted labour & parts/paint might label it a writeoff but doesn't mean much these days.

if it's 7.5k payout minus 1k or 2k buy back & you know you can repair it probably better off fixing it.

Mine was 4-5k in quoted labour/paint when quarter panel was stoved in....open section of chassis rail in front of swaybar I'd fix myself re-align panels then wheel alignment after checking suspension & start driving.

A panel beater might bid high on it and he'll try and fix it at cost then on sell it as commodore prices are high atm.
Generally panel beaters want to bid low to maximise profits....I'm not sure pricing interstate, but just for all the necessary paper work for an eco write off car in this state is $1,000....That doesn't include the parts and labour....

So with the prices being high at the moment, they'd want to cash in big by low balling the bid

I don't know if it still applies but I was once told a wrecker would pay the value of the motor

Bit of a worry, them saying it's a 2000 model ute....I can't actually see the damage they're referring to, so it will be interesting to keep an eye on it
I can see passenger side front guard has some damage.
I would expect the first ute not to go above $250.

Anyone been to a car auction where crashed cars are sold? I'm trying to estimate what my insurer would ask for my ute now it's heavily damaged.
if you want to buy it i reckon you could always make an offer before it ends up there?
