I've posed this question in the Post your pics thread and nobody answered so I'll post it here. Does this colour look too gay? I'm considering a mauve colour to go with the accents in the seats also painting the console and doing the door inserts in the same fabric.

I'm an old bastard so I can say what I like - and if you reckon it looks good then I'd have to say it does as well. The cabin is any Commodore is so similar to a hundred other makes that you'd think the one person designed them all. And they are all coloured in boring business suit grey and flat black. This colour is purposely bland so as not to offend the buyer I presume but it really is boring boring boring.
So mauve is a great colour and your thumbnail looks good....and you appear to have not done a bodgy job!...and it don't look gay....but even if if it did then so what.

Just trying white as the car is white. My wife doesn't think much of it though and it's her car. I think i'm going with purple/mauve. About this colour.

Well, if it's your wifes car then and purple/mauve is her favourite colour then you are on a winner.

Its not. But it looks better than grey and it matches her seats and steering wheel cover.

IMO the white is much too bright, the contrast between the interior colour and your cluster surround there is too strong, i think the mauve/purple will look good, as long as its a darker colour and not too bright, you want to make it easy on the eye.

Hmmmm...well if she chose the steering wheel cover and seat cover colours then it """might""" be OK. I've been married probably for longer than you've lived and I still ain't learned the habits of these females. Whatever colour you choose I think its a great idea to brighten up what really looks like the inside of a communist plastic factory.

Im not a big fan of the white, but i think that the mauve/purple could look good if it matches the seat accents and the door inserts. Good Luck
