Hi all,
My VS's dash lights are not working!! The lights for the trip and everything else are working but not the speedo and tacho etc. At first the two outside lights stopped working then they would come on every now and then and then the speedo and tacho lights stopped until you would hit the dash and the lights would come back on and fade bright and dull. But now the lights aren't working at all.

What could this be??? I haven't pulled it appart....YET!!!!:bang:

I suggest if you take it all out, change all the bulbs, saves you doing later. I did that to my VR, changed speedo builbs, speed alert bulb, fan control cluster bulbs, auto trans shifter indicator bulb, etc. It felt like the car was new because the lights were nice and bright at night.

This is due to bad contact between the globe holders and the printed circuit on the back of the instrument cluster. Take the cluster out and remove all the globes. Get a bit of wet/dry sandpaper and very lightly sand the copper contacts on the PCB and the contacts on the globe holders. If the globes are loose at all you can pinch the little contacts a little bit more closed with a pair of pliers. put it all back together and it should work like new.

Common problem that has happened on all three of the commodores I have owned... Theres no fix like a free fix :)
