VR s2 Acclaim/VK IS GONE :(
hello
i had a look in the how-to section and din't find anything on how to swap a dash over
i am looking at chaging my brown vh dash to a blue vk or vl dash and just wanted to know how hard it is. I have never done anything around my dash and don't really know all that much about cars and wanted to know would i be able to do it
is it a straight swap or do i have to change bit around and mod things? i am hoping to keep the vh cluster and the fan/aircon controller stuff unless it would swap with the vk/l stuff

so any info is needed please
thankyou, Pattis

VK dashes are the same as your vh dash, in fitting anyway. The vl dash has different mounting points on it. Does fit though with a little grinding and stuff. If you want it to look a little newer and arent auto inclined, stick with the vk dash. You will still be able to use your current cluster, but you will have to make a facia panel on the left side. maybe stick some gauges there or something. Although after that it will still look very similar too the vh dash.

I fitted a vs into a vn(really not that hard) and then i have fitted 2 vn dashes into vks. both looked pretty darn good. only thing is the center part of the dash where the h/u goes sits real close to the stick when its in park. I think the manual sits a little further back though. I take it by th enickname you have you have a 3.8 v6 in your vh.

This may sound like a cop-out, but I think its your best bet......

go to your nearest Commodore specialist wreakers, and annoy the piss out of the guys that work in the yard. They are the ones that pyull the barstards out every day, and should be able to tell you what can / cant, and with a tweak, what might ! There is a magazine on newsagent shelves at the moment that features a VH with what looks like a VR-VS dash !

Good Luck !!!
