It’s very unlikely that the locksmith has done anything to your car unless it was on purpose. Programming keys is simple with the right scantool. Just out of curiosity did you try the bulb learn procedure above, that fixed the same issue with my car after after fitting led globes to my tail lamps, brake lights and number plate lights.
Ok thanks for your reply, I just tried it-unsuccessful. The #31 fuse is in my case the L/H headlight. Does that sound right?

Thanks for your help. I replaced the fuse ENG. CONT/BCM with a 10a standard fuse, followed the instructions on your list (I did anyway even though warning never came on) and hey presto-problem solved! The power of the internet on a slim budget. Thanks again!
