Daytime running lights

Hi guys
Question is this
I've got a VT 11/97 s1 Low-BCM and i wonna hookup some DRL's
And as its dont have the "foglight wiring loom" that they installed
as a shortcut, wheres the best place to splice them
I wont them on with the "Reds" on only
There 12v SMD-leds i was thinking that maybe i can
splice in to the Aircon relay with a fuse for safety
Is that advisable or is there an eazier safer location i can
join them too

that would proberly be the best and easiest way to do it, on another note how are DRL's legal yet driving with fog lights on isnt?

if vt wiring is the same as vx/vu.

if your going to pull off the front bar to fit the lights. mights as well take the headlights out as well (only three bolts).
on the back of the headlight, there is a six pin plug. if your looking at the plug from the headlight end, so you can see the pins(not the wiring end)
if your DRLs have two wires top left is negative/earth, top right is parkers. connect your lights to them..

if your DRLs have three wires, it will have the headlight cut out function. connect you postive from the DRL to the BOTTOM left pin. negative to TOP left, and healight cut out wire to TOP right(parkers), this enable the lights run with the ignition on but drops out when healights are turned on...the legal way


any other way you will need to pick up a power source and use a switch

Why wouldn't you want to do it on the parkers? You mean to run the DRL's on a separate switch? Not paying your idea out or anything, just curious as to why not the obvious parker option.

I seen a VX Berlina with them on without parkers and it looked
better with the chrome lights backing

And if i did the front vx berlina id choose that way
So was just wondering like ill try it on the parker
The way you meantioned gotta fix the corner of my bumper anyway

DRL's are P21watt bulbed lamps, or LED photometric equivalents. Front fogs are 55watt bulbed lamps in halogen form. Fogs have more glare and different beam pattern than a DRL.


I'd rather fit a rear fog lamp, buy a warning triangle for my car and simply rely on the low beam headlights for when needed. Unless the car comes standard with each or all of these items

If you wanted just the DRL's on with no other lights, best option would be to just run them off the battery with an inline fuse, then run a completely separate switch and mount it somewhere in your dash.

just curious. how would that help?? rear fog lights are nothing short of annoying. and a warning triangle is only good for a break down..DRL's are there to help drivers spot on coming cars. they create a light that can easialy seen without been dirstracting... fog light on the other hand are usually poorly aimed and cause glare to on coming drivers
