course not -lol

how long did the doc's tell you before you can get some normal back in your life

sorry I havent been on in a while. Just been resting up. Thumb is not fully better but a great improvement since the surgery. I can move it and use it for light duties. Trying to get a clearance for work coz work cover wages aren't as good and im going crazy being home and not being able to do anything.

At this stage it looks like I won't be making the burnout comp like I had hoped but as soon as my thumb is healed up, its back to work on the vp and I will have it running sweet by April's comp. :)

Updaaaaattteee!!!!!

Finally my thumb is in good enough shape for me to get a bit more work done on the VP. I Did a subtle modification for the wheels which really brought them to life as well as got quite a bit more painting done. I wet sanded each panel before painting except for the boot and bumper as i plan to replace them at a later date, so for now i just slapped a couple coats on for the short term.

I am really happy with the results and how i managed to achieve said results with my still sort of dodgy thumb. Good news however, is i can finally return to work this coming Monday so i will be able to enjoy a fortnight's work before going on a four week Christmas break :bang:

I must confess, I advertised my car on gumtree for a short time before getting the paint done as i felt like i didn't want to continue with the project but after watching a few classic car movies in my time off work and rekindled the spark i had in the beginning of this build.

With the man hours slowly climbing for my project i am teetering on the edge of committing the VP to be a burnout car only or to finish the build, fix any little problems that could cause a defect and register her for the streets!

Please get back to me with thoughts and any suggestions for the VP as I'm always open for new opinions.

Cheers all!

i wouldn't register it for the streets with the scoop on.......you will last all of 5 minutes before it gets deemed unroadworthy. (Aftermarket scoops especially one that large are illegal and once you have the police's attention with it they will rape you)

I tend to agree with the other guys. A matte black Commodore with a spool and scoop on the road. That's got bad new written all over it :p

Keep it as a thrasher mate. Looks heaps better all one colour keep it up!

cheers everyone for the comments. i agree that its looking better all one colour. I also agree that i will get some stock tail lights when i put it on the road as well as leaving the scoop off. i just have it sitting there for photos just to see how it looks. will leave it off though.

will keep everyone up to date with progress.

Got a pair of side skirts... finally!

Even though the weather is looking pretty sh**ty, i think ill do a bit more painting today. I finally stopped being lazy and picked up the side skirts that had been sitting at my missus place for the last 3 months and brought them home with me. I'm pretty sure they are fibreglass VP senator skirts but cant be certain, nor do i really care, they were free haha. Free parts are always good in a build.

I have the entire right side of the VP to finish painting as well as the roof. Does anyone have any tips to stop the roof from streaking and looking dreadful? I have painted many cars (dodgy of course :D) and never get the roof looking smooth, always streaky.

I have tried a tip i heard from someone a while ago about painting with matt black. Apparently you do one heavy coat, leave it to flash dry for about 15mins or so and then shoot a quick medium coat over the top. He also said that you dont put clear coat on it. Im a tad worried about how long the paint will last as its cheap and nasty and has no top coat so i dont even know if i can wash the car now :S

I will post pics of the skirts when i have painted and fitted them.

Cheers

leave for a few weeks in the sun to bake a bit, when you do wash it don't scrub or pressure wash or it will most likely come off

Hey all, to no surprise to anyone on here, I sold the vp. I also got rid of the Honda accord. Now I have two new cars. The first, a 1991 Toyota soarer jzz30 twin turbo coupe and the other... A 1990 VN SS with sv5000 kit and custom interior.

I'm definitely starting a page for it. I will put a link in here shortly.
