Ok here's the run down. I found a vn 5 litre on gumtree on Monday night (16/12), for $1200. I was skeptical at first, thought it be a hunk of junk. It had rego until late February as well as being kitted with an sv5000 bodykit and group a scoop. I figured it was worth taking a look.

I went down to look at the car and saw that most of the body was in really good shape. The front bar is a bit worse for wear but the rest looks to be in extremely good condition. Now here's where it got me confused.. The dashboard sticker that normally denotes the model spec has "SSV Sydney special vehicles" on it. It looks like its been there from factory as there are no signs of tampering. I was also informed that it is a genuine as and the vin number seems to comply with that.

Back to the car.. The interior is, well, different. It looks like sv5000 door trims but with wood grain panels. The dash also has wood grain but not the usual layout. Engine is ok, extractors and exhaust, possibly bigger injectors or just a fuel leak as it stinks of fuel when driving. It takes a little bit if cranking over to start which makes me think either dizzy or battery as when its warm it starts immediately. Trans needs a rebuild, first is worn.

I've fixed and done a couple of mods that i will detail later. I will try to put pics up asap.

I scored it for $1000 btw. SOO much better than the vq i had.

Sounds like a good pick up, waiting to see some pics... The fuel smell could be your tank breather hoses, they are notorious for perishing.

Picture Time!

Heres a few pics from when I first got it and then some from after I washed it, serviced it and chucked my good rims on it :)

If anyone knows more about the SSV badge, let me know as I have no idea haha.
