Hi all, ive been on this forym for a little while now and have already gone through too many cars. Im gonna try and hold onto this one for a while now and bring it back to life. Its a 1989 VN executive v6. I was told its an ex cop car but am unsure. It has very slight cam, lukey exhaust and pod. Also came with 2 18" wheels that were blue. I will post pics of my mods etc as I go. All suggestions and help will be appreciated.
Looks fairly straight. Needs some love tho. If its a genuine ex cop car, the built plate in the engine bay will say "BT - 1" on it.
Yeah I thought the same. I heard some of them will have 9h1 or bt1. This says neither but I think it might have the engine and trans from a bt1. Putting more pix of progress soon
just means the engine and box have been thrashed. they werent any different internally to your every day vn motor.
Update: put sound system in Put some doof doof makers in along with head unit. JVC multi colour deck with USB, pioneer 150w 6" fronts, US Audio 180w 6" rears, Clarion 500w 12" sub with US audio 330w monoblock amp.
Update: new seats and door trims Bought a set of vq statesman front and rear seats for 50$ and got some vn calais door trims with vs door pods I think.
Wow, I think I could find a VN at the wreckers in better condition than this. Door rubbers falling off The wheels don't match eachother Rust everywhere Poor paint Headunit held in with paper Speakers just cut into the doors Tint looks completely stuffed Dodgy centre console paint job Headlight & indicators look the condition of a car from the 60's Fuel flaps a different color Pinstriping coming off everywhere Tailight broken Door trims falling apart Front brake rotors are stuffed Fix all of those issues, An then we might be able to suggest some tasteful modifications for your car. Cheers Mat P.S- There is no such thing as a "Slight Cam", Service the car an the lumpyness will go away.
Update: painted rims, bumpers, rocker covers, debadged and de trimmed Painted the wheels and bumpers black, did the thermo fan and rocker covers monaro blue (drivers side rocker cover is a c%#t to remove). Also took the badges off all round and removed the side trims.
Hozy, you're a meanie lol. But I know it aint great. Also the handbrake works. And I didnt pick the car up for 300... It was free
Lol it's going to cost you more in repairs than if you had bought something better which has been looked after.
Its starting to look better mate, it really needs a set of matching wheels though. Some of those sound system photo's though, installs a little rough. Suppose it matches the car I guess. At the very least, the rear quarter panels are straight. I don't like the blue in the engine bay. Gloss black would have been awesome. As for mods, how about you throw away the checkered floor mats and buy some grey carpet ones?
rocker covers same color as car, and fan shroud gloss black, pod filter is gay, at least a K&n one lol, too many colors going on in the bay, looks terrible, put 4 stockies on and paint them silver with centre caps and even then will look a million times better.
I agree but now im trying to save $4k for a new super 6 stato. Probs will try and get a grand for this.
UPDATE: bought some narva Arctic plus 50 headlights yesterday and spent 12 hours (literally 12) putting my new extractors on... worst part is.. its still not finished. Quick heads up, series 1 engines are not fun.
UPDATE: extractors/narva Arctic plus 50/rims finally got the extractors put into the vn poverty pack. took me a day and a half to put the c**ts in but well worth the effort. also whacked some plus 50 lights in. not too noticeable but definitely better visability. scored a set of 17" RJR Blades for $100 plus $70 for two new tyres on the front. Car is finally coming along now. without further delay, here's pic's. ALSO gave the car a good scrub and a clean. Let me know what you think
