so driving in today i thought i smelt something funny, smelt like clutch (no i wasn't giving it hell, i was in traffic ;))
anyway, i figured i'd check to see if it was coming from the bay so i chucked the fan on, only to have no fan and no air movement on any speed. confused cos i thought that if the fanspeed resistor died then fan speed one and two still worked.

anyway, could this be the cause of the overheating ****fullness that i've made a million threads about(interior fan on same circuit as cooling fan?) or is it just another thing that's going wrong.

didn't check the fuse for the fan, probably should have before posting, oh well.

Are you talking about the fan on the radiator being the problem for your over heating? If you could smell clutchy type smell - yes it could be. Is the fan cutting in when the car gets hot?

Else give the fan some 12 volts on its own to see if it still goes round.

basically the fan in cabin wasn't running, but i'm not sure if this is indicative of the cooling fan not spinning.

Fan in the cab will normally be the risistor thingo or a fuse. But if you had clutch smell it could be the fan motor - but I'd have thought it would have been more of an electrical smell.

remembered to check the fuse out today, and remembered i took the fuse out to put in another slot.

anyway, the fuse chart wasn't clear on which Ampage fuse to put in there.

i chucked a 20A in there because i didn't want my car to catch fire, but can anyone confirm?

I'd always go with the lower amperage fuse. If the draw across the fuse is higher then it's rating, all you will blow is the fuse.
