    Hi all,

First post, I am hoping someone can help. I done a quick seasrch of the forums but could not find the same problem.
I'm new to all this so forgive me if I missed something.

I was driving my VX series 2 Calais V6 supercharged today and the gauges and air con stopped working. The only light to stay on was the battery light and the ABS flickered on intermittently.

Everytime i start the car the gauges seem fine, the battery light is on but as soon as i accelerate everything dies again(gauges and air con).

Done a bit or research and found a few people saying it may be a regulator issue and that the battery is being overcharged.

I was just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and may know a fix for this.

Put a volt/multi meter across the battery when it's idling and revving. It should read no more than about 14.2 volts. Give or take a couple of 10ths of a volt.
Any higher, then the regulator is faulty

    Thanks guys

RACV came out and reckon its the Altenator. Car not even starting now without a jump.

Funny thing is the guy reckons it is charging once we got it jumped.

    weird.

Yeah not too sure. I might try and change the regulator and see if it fixes the problem.
Anyone know where i can get a guide to change the regulator?

Remove the two screws that secure the regulator/brush assembly(little black box) on the back of the alternator.
Make sure the B+ terminal wire is disconnected or damage to the B+ rail could occur.

    Hi and thanks all.

Went to my mechanic and swapped out the regulator. Had the same issue. After searching and finding an alternator to suite the v6 supercharged motor mechanic swapped it out and all is working perfectly now.

Cost me $200 for everything which i think is a good price.

Thanks again for all your help.

as I like to say, it's always the German (Bosch) bits that break :)
