    VS series II Acclaim
Hi all, at the moment i have a very clean vn commodore (owned since new by my mum) and i was wondering if any of you out there has gone from a vn to a vt and what are the pros and cons, obviously the vt is better (simply newer technology) but is it worth the money, im assuming the vt is a bit more gutless seeing as its a fair bit heavier, but i wanted to hear your guys thoughts about it. also, how does it handle in comparison to the vn?

Um, they're still a boat, unless they've got at least FE2, larger rims and low profile tyres. They'll also wear the rear tyres quicker due to Holden stealing rear suspension ideas from the Datsun 180B.

Other than that, if you want a VT, get a series two, or a VX series 1. VX series twos seem to jump up somewhat in price for some reason.

hmm the rear end is better but i think the front is worse because of the extra weight, although i would prefer a live rear end myself hehe. go drive a vt see what you think after i drove a vx ss compared to a vn ss i bought it even tho the ls1 sound bad :S.

i went from a vn to a vt. The vt was much more refined as expected, although you can still feel the similarities between it and the vn. The engines do feel different, the vn seemed to have a bit more pick up, comparatively the vt was a slug, but a lot less harsh. From my vt to driving my dad's vz i think is a much bigger difference, specifically the electronic throttle as compared to mechanical. looking back I think it was worth the changeover, much better car throughout, much more refined and not as many problems mechanically.

edit: with your question with handling, they were both quite similar, but the vt seems to take corners smoother and isn't as bouncy and loose as vns are. I'm only basing this on my vt though. I've driven about 8 or 9 different vns and all of them drove remarkably different.

The VT still has a lazy ass... yes... it's a pig to park between two cars in an average parking lot without having to reverse and correct.

If you've got a tight engine on your VN and it's a nice clean, straight and well looked after car... then I say keep the VN. VT's are into double digits in age now. Like it was said, probably a series 1 VX would be better... and if you can afford it, I also agree that the VY or VZ does have noticable difference to the VT.

Of course, the VY's have more wind noise, I think it's the squared wing mirrors. A good VT is hard to pass up, but also just as hard to find.

are vy and vz alot better than vt-vx? i was thinking that they have the same chassis so they should be almost the same. also my car has electronic throttle and its a vx.

    VZ SS 6 SPEED MANUAL
    Hey Mate

The VZ has the alloytec, which some people will argue its faster than the ecotec and vice versa, i prefer the VY/Z look compared to the VT/X looks, it's really person preference, you really have to drive all 4 cars to see which one you prefer, VZ been the newest will probably be better, though also depends on how mnay k's are on the car etc, and which one you like after taking them for a spin...

if you are not after power than get a vt but if you fell you will miss having power i wouldnt bother, the vt's do handle quite nice and are nice and smooth too, its just the seats i found were very uncomfortable compared to a vn and i got a vt berlina so you think they woulda at least put comfy seats in them and also its hard to see out the back of a vt cos the boot sits so high.

anyway it all comes down to personal preferance, just drive a couple of vt's and then see what you think, i didnt really like them that much so i gave mine to my missus and got another vn lol and not only that i looked at about 10-15 vt's before i found a decent one with low k's so be prepared to look.

    98 VT Wagon
I have a VT wagon, had it chipped, cai & high flow air filter, $250 bucks worth. On 98ron goes every bit as hard as my brothers vx. Not much in it side by side scooting on down the road. Having said that though i am replacing the VT motor with the VX II in the next couple of months to get the k's back down.

I love the VT/VX, allthough the reflectors in the rear bumper of the VX's sh!t me.
Odyssey is right low k's will be your problem, and the IRS on the VT is poo, for what its worth go the VX........wagon offcourse.

    Good luck, Daz

Yeah me too, But I think there are some models with the reflector in the tail light. maybe calais or berlina? I like the more modern look of the vx taillight, but the s with reflectors in the bumper just has me thinking WHY? every single time I see it.

Funny how little things like that can put a whole car in a different light.

Definetly drive a few don't make your mind up by driving one. It will come down to the driving pleasure more than the power alone in the long run. I've only ever driven one car that I thought this is more power than I could ever get used too. Believe me that wasn't a six!
