    Hi Calaber

It was an episode of Behind Mansion Walls in Canada on Foxtel CI and I should have took note of the credits before editing.

Just went Googling and found this:

    Episode 10 Helmuth Buxbaum

    Cheers

Can't remember if they had bumper over riders or not but either way they were easily removed. The rest could describe petty much any Kingswood Premier of the 70's. I was only guessing at the HX because of the grille. HJ-HZ were pretty much mix and match fronts with whichever bling you liked best. Even the WB was same although you needed slightly more effort with them.

Holden did export heaps of them to South Africa, New Zealand and parts of Asia back in the day however I always thought they were RHD only. I guess I stand corrected - couldn't imagine anybody going to the trouble of a LHD conversion on one.

    Thanks again

I too can only find information on LHD exports up to HG holden from GMH. On Wikipedia it states that with factory integrated A/C it was too hard for a LHD option.

The HQ was the first Holden not designed for left and right hand drive for some time so that LHD car is a real mystery. (I was under the impression that the HQ was the first model that WAS designed for both sides but my references tell me no.

The car in your pics certainly appears to be an HX Premier. It appears to have an HX Premier front clip as already stated, and Premier stainless steel sill panels. In those days, manual windows were still standard. It could be an "export" spec Premier but I can't find any export markets on either American continent for the HX in my references. It appears that there is a badge on the top rear section of the front guards above the swage line. The HX had its badge there but it was script spelling either Kingswood or Premier - that badge doesn't appear to match either. The HX Premier didn't have over-riders as standard but had the rubber insert in the bumpers.

Interesting problem. I'll keep looking as I'd like to know the answer too.

Edit: According to Wikipedia, the TV series is actually American, so it could be that the episode in question was filmed just about anywhere.

    Hi Calaber
It is doing my head in and I have now added it to my bucket list :)
I just rang my mate who was a die setter at GMH Elizabeth in the 70's & 80's but he never noticed anything but the machines and his HR Special wagon.

Attached are a few more images.

Have keen in touch with "those who know" They say that export Holdens generally finished with HG.

But, take a closer look at pic 2. The premier badge on the guard seems to be backwards. They seem to have reversed the images to make it look LHD. See if you can get some other images of the badges and take a closer look.

That could be the answer. It looks like it could be the style of badge used on the HX but reversed.

Edit: Which would mean it was probably filmed in Australia, or perhaps NZ.

Thank you edelbrock1, I appreciate your efforts and will try to get a good view of the badges. I will also try and get info on reversing video footage.
    Cheers

    Hi calaber and edelbrock1

I think you have nailed it. I viewed the footage through a mirror and it all comes out as a RHD HX wagon even the Premier badge on the guard looks right. Except the rego plate of course. Magic and mirrors.

    Problem solvered :)

I don't know how they managed to reverse the Premier badge on the guard by mirroring footage without the rest of the car at the same time. Clearly the P of the 'Premier' makes the badge read right to left however to do that, the original would have the P nearest the headlights. If the whole sequence was filmed mirrored I'd expect the car to be driving left to right instead of right to left in the shot. Somehow I think that theory needs some work fellas ;)

Cheers reaper, just when I thought it was solved :)

I have found the video footage on youtube and the HX scenes are at these times:
    10:58 to 11:14
    14:26 to 14:41
    16:03 to 16:13
    16:55 to 16:58

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31oA70fDXjY

If you have nothing better to do watch it in a mirror and it's all different, RHD as well! Weird.

If I catch that episode again I will make note of the actors, filming location and cars supplied by in the credits.

    Cheers Hangman

I see the driver puts his drivers side blinker on but was it a mistake if he was about to pull up on the passenger's side? Now I am confusing myself.
Like you say they must have stamped the rego plate in reverse.
