I stumbled on something worth looking into.

Are Chevy Silverado ‘99-‘06 tail lights the same used on VT-VZ wagons and utes?

They certainly look the same dimensions and shape.

It would make sense to have Holden dip into the global parts bin.

What I can’t find is the dimensions of them. Maybe Holden used a scaled down version. Same design, only smaller?

If they are the same rear light assembly, it will mean a good supply of these lights for a long time to come. Also a range of more modern designs.

Now there’s not heaps of old Chevy Silverados in Australia, so if anyone happens to see one, could they check it out. Or if one of our US members can get some measurements for us?

The light it’s self is exactly the same. The way it attaches differs, and I think Holden should have gone with the Silverado design. The GM version is easy to remove. The Holden one is convoluted. Where the Silverado light screws to the side of the tailgate area, Holden’s mould has the bolts. The same mount seems to be there but modified.

A pity because the light designs available aftermarket for the Silverado would add a bit of a modern look to the VT-VZ wagons and utes.

aftermarket lights always add the eBay look to cars, never make them look "more modern".

Have found some that look like the difference between VE and VF2 wagon /ute rear lights. That subtle update.
