My car sort of died the other night (the battery discharged or something shorted) it was electrically dead, I got to the lights after driving fine for around 20 mins then it just cut out and there was no power to restart or even put the hazards on. It started around 2 mins before with the headunit cutting in and out and trying to turn itself on but not seeming to have enough current. RACV got called and I explained to the bloke what had happened and he was looking at me like I was lying LOL but beleived me in the end. The alternator tested fine as did the battery. I got a jump start and it has been fine since. A similar thing happened 2 weeks ago when I got my brakes done, the battery went flat in the workshop after only 4 hours and the car was off, everything was off so I can't understand wtf is doing this. Could it be the battery? or another more sinister gremlin?

vl berlina wagon 6cyl
dirty battery terminals can cause many mysterious electrical problems, be careful undoing the terminal bolts that the spanner doesnt contact any metal
also get a hydromoter which lets you check the condition of each cell

fully charged should be between the white and the green on the scale

I am not sure about the VL's but I know the early model commodores had a plug just near the firewall which had constant, starter and ignition in it.

These plugs are one of the common causes of 'Electrically dead' problems..

The pins inside the plug corrode with age and causes a high level of resistance.

Hope this helps.........cheers

Lets work as a TEAM and do it MY WAY!! :w00t:
