I'm fairly new to the commodore scene. I'm chasing a 3.70 lsd for my vx but can't find any. What other make or model centres fit into a stock vx diff?

Are you after just a 3.73 ratio gear for an existing diff or are you after a full 3.73 LSD diff to change out with whats currently in the car?

If you're just after gears then its an M80 diff so your after gears to suit that and then just check if its V6 or V8 (im not sure if that actually matters).

If you're wanting a whole new or second hand diff that's an LSD with 3.73 ratio then it's going to be a bit harder to find but i've seen places like ebay selling reconditioned diffs and anything from a VT-VZ should fit but get the seller to confirm first. Anything before VT and after the VZ wont fit due to it being a completely different diff

V6 continued to use the M78 except for the supercharged V6 which used the M80. The IRS VP-VS M78s and their centres are exactly the same and will fit as long as the flange is correct, but can't think of a scenario where you'd want to.

Very, very few Commodores used 3.7 diff gears from the factory. The closest you'll get from factory is a manual V8 M80 diff which is an LSD with a 3.45 gears, just buy the entire diff housing and swap that in (you'll likely need to change the front flange), way easier than changing the centre. Other than that, if you're really dead set on 3.7 gears you'll need to source your own for whichever diff type and centre you want to use, at which point you'll really want to be taking it to a diff shop to be setup, or you buy an already built one as above. You might even find 3.45 is enough. Be aware though that at this age a lot of original LSDs are cooked.

FYI it will change your speedo reading too.

Believe only the manual hsv models came out with 3.7 ratio from factory aside from the series 2 vf ss’s which is a different diff altogether although you can get aftermarket brand gears if you want

Do you know how to remove the axles from the diff centre?

Pretty sure there is a snap ring just before the end of the shaft well into the diff.
Therefore locked in, but if you give it a hard tug, or jimmy it out with a crow bar you should be right.
