Ok well when i was testing my car that i recently bought we first heard a "clunk" when we were taking off, we assumed this was the diff and the mechanic even commented about it. Now that iv had this car for a month or so i have never really heard that same clunk. However there are some other few signs eg.. the obvious "check engion" (picture) which my incompitent dad seems to think is the transmission. The battery also cut out when i was driving and about to pull in and had it almost rolling (its automatic though).

I know you guys can't give me the exact problem but maybe you could hint me towards the general direction of the problem.

    Firstly its spelt incompetent.

Secondly Check Engine means its logged a trouble code and needs a scan tool plugged in to read what the issue is.

Thirdly check battery terminals are tight and clean as well as the lead to the Alternator and earths.

Go into diagnostic mode, battery voltage with engine running should be around 14v
