Yeah cheers. But the thing is that most diff places only offer 12 month guarantee. If I did it thru Holden I'd get 2year/50..

I'd love to take it to your guy Steve, I'm sure he'd do a better job then the monkeys currently working on my car. But I've paid $1800 to Holden to receive the guarantee, or a properly working diff..

If I wanted a diff with no guarantee on it, I would've paid a wrecker $500 for a diff and had it bolted straight in..

But thanks anyway mate..
Transdiff..........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Search on SC for them mate, nothing but complaints from everyone. Quite clearly the backlash hasnt been set right, which any compedent trans/diff specialist should never stuff up.

I had a quick look, it seems everyone recommends it. Only 4 threads came up..

But hopefully they'll find and rectify this problem. I'm gonna go banana's if they say anything about the rubber on the guards or try to minimise this in anyway, shape or form..

I'll see what they say after it's towed to them. At Holden they basically checked my diff oil and everything around the diff. There were about 4 mechanics huddled around the bottom of my car looking..

Do you have another diff allready? it might be worth getting the G80? 8 inch diff from a Gen III/super 6, unbreakable in your car

Look I would..

But I've just spent $1800 (on a casual servo wage) to get a fully functioning diff, basically a new diff in my existing housing.. I'm not about to throw it away for another diff..

If I pay $1800, a functioning diff is the least I expect..

Ok the tossers at Transdiff changed all the gears in my diff but left my old Crown Wheel Pinion in there.. Holden sent it back to them and said it was their fault for not quoting the CWP when repairing the diff..

So I got it replaced for free (apparently it's not part of the diff replacement).. It would've cost an extra $500 or so (according to Barloworld)..

So I'm up $500 apparently..

I spent $1850 for the new diff..

They replaced the CWP for free.. (I would expect it to be part of replacing the diff, but I don't care now)

Most diff places quoted $1400-1500 for this same job.. It seems the Holden dealer markup was worth it.. I can guarantee that if I did this personally, they would have charged me an extra $500 for the CWP..

that sounds like a bit of a grey area. a full diff replacement should be exactly that...a full replacement. a diff rebuild however is usually a bearing change and inspection.
specifics are the key here, i would have gone for a decent exchange diff from someone with the runs on the board. something with a different set of gears in it.....just my thoughts......cause thats nearly 2 grand you've laid down there and for what?

Who knows.. I've got a perfectly working diff now..

I was going to get a diff from the wreckers and have it bolted in for $200.. The whole ordeal would've cost me about $600.. But a diff guy I spoke to said the chance of me blowing another diff is very high..

I really wanted a guarantee on the diff.. So instead of the potential waste of $600 and putting an unknown quantity in my car, with no guarantee..

I paid $1850 and knew the job would be done properly.. And if anything failed in the next 24 months, Holden would fix it up for me. As they did..
