i have a complete diff in a wreck i have ...dont know how good it is however i would like to rip it apart and basically redo all the bearings in it (if it turns out to be ok) now how does the pinion bearing be replaced? like how do i know if it has enough pre load? its just the 2 bearings and the pinion bearing's right? (besides the Axel bearings at each side where the wheels are and all the other **** in there haha) lol as i could probly get the bearings very cheaply through a bearing place in me town and want to experiment (plus my diff is whinnying a bit ) cheers
setting preload is a matter of fitting bearings putting in a new collapsable spacer and torquing to the correct load. not a perfect system however in my opinion. once the preload is correct then you gotta set your backlash and contact pattern correctly. thats not so simple
heel, toe, face, flank, do you know what these are reffering to mate, if not, i wouldnt bother quit while your ahead.
haha yeh well its looking like i wont bother but i may just for fun ....cant hurt i guess as my diff has a whine in it when ya take ya foot of the accelerator but its not bad..been like it for....well since i brought it haha
