So I'm thinking of buying a Calais cluster with the same amount of k's as my current cluster has. Was just wondering if there's a difference between the series 1 clusters and the series 2? Also wondering if a v6 cluster will fit my v8 as the seller (on ebay) hasn't responded so I'm not sure if the one they've got is from a v6 or a v8. Reason for wanting to change is my Calais has a ss or something like that in it currently and I'd like to put an original one in her.

Series 1 = White back plastic (can ONLY be used with series 1)
Series 1 (MY9.5) = Black back plastic (can be used with Series 2)
Series 2 = Black back plastic (can be used with MY9.5)

You can use any type of VE cluster throughout the various models (HSV to Calais, Omega etc) but the one thing is that the back plastic of the outer casing needs to be the same colour as your original cluster.

Also if you do end up doing an upgrade to your cluster, then the best bet is you'll need to get the cluster programmed to match your VIN & also for the cluster to be programmed to your ECU/ABS module etc.

LSXtreme (https://lsxtreme.com.au/) do this for approx $170 inc. GST

I've put in a Series 2 VE HSV cluster into my VE Omega MY9.5 & he (LSXtreme) got it working 100% (VIN & correct KM's)

V6 & V8 are both interchangeable.

Thanks for that mate that's very helpful. I'll be sure to contact them and get the cluster I want to work in mine. Cheers

Yes that's right. I got a Calais series 2 dash from them for my SV6 and they programmed it as well. Needed a photo of my licence next to the vin number for them to verify and do the programming. Works flawlessly, love the extra digital screens on it.

No time because I was using my old cluster until the new one arrived in the post already programmed. Then one morning my old man and I bumbled our way through installing it, maybe 2 hours all up. Didn't even break anything doing it, lol.

LSXtreme program it with your km, also had to send them a photo of the odometer with licence next to it.

When I changed to the S2 IQ headunit into the S1, Sat Nav info was a bit scrambled on the cluster. It was recommended I also change to series 2 Calais Cluster to resolve it and the above methods and services were who would do it.

So if sat nav is involved, that will be the only thing that might not work as well. All the rest is plug and play once VIN data and km's is sorted.
