IIRC I paid about $170 for three small dings in a tailgate. I have one tiny ding that I think would be about $100, seems to be a minimum charge for the bloke I last used.

Okay I’ll have to do some more serious homework on this. Maybe my friend who is female by the way, was ripped off.

My dent guy is too cheap. His work is great. Had him do the Calais and the Ranger twice now.
minimum charge seems to be $100 and I’m okay with that. First time he did the Ranger tub and the Calais guard for $150 the pair. The other quote was $600 for the Calais alone.

If you are in Adelaide I can’t recommend him enough.

Thanks. It’s good to know there are some decent guys out there!

OK , soo bear with me some what long winded.

I bought one of those dent puller kits off ebay a couple of months ago= the 51 piece kit= I wanted the side hammer!!! = $75

Not much experience yet = about 1/2 , 3/4 hour mucking around .

I justified on 2 counts = lots of shopping trolley dents down the sides of the Maloo =( anything I can do to reduce panel shop prep= going to be repainted hopefully sometime next year = so no loss /cost sort of).
If it worked fairly well I have a couple of small dents on top of both front guards of the Monaro ( don't know how they got there but really **** me because it's soo dam straight = no shopping trolley dents or anything).

So because the Maloo was in the garage when got , there's 1 dent/crease in the bottom of the tailgate dumb ase = me put in.

So tried it on this first.
It is/was quite sharp = created by 1 leg of a star post and it's worst point is where there is a sharp bend.

Only crappy photos of the tailgate.

Did it work?
YES. 100% NO The dent is quite sharp and at the point where it meets the bend the glue adhesion verious pulling power is overruled.
This dent is still quite small and I would say looking at their promo vids= bigger dents I say bullshxt.

For me on one youtube vid sore a guy use special mirror to highlite dents = if works =I need.

Anyway I ventured onto 1 of the Monaro dents = drivers top front guard = obviously shxt me the most.
One go = not perfect , it pulled the center up = so now a little island but is soooo much more not noticeable.

So off my very limited experience I would say !!!
If want 100% = go professional = they will most likely remove door trim and push out== the best way to remove dent.

If happy to accept say 70 /80 % and may even get better improvement go for it.

Could even go 1 of the $21 to $25 kits and just need acetone= based nail polish remover if only want small amount and probably/possibly a soft wood Homemade punch = to tap high points.

The longest tabs are an 1"/25mm , if you jag the prefect match /curve/sideways = the bigger the contact area = the more effective= with also means clean clean clean =and never be clean enough for glue contact.
Put in the middle first/ length ways
Hope this helps!!!

Thanks so much for your response. It certainly looks like your efforts made a difference. I’m probably erring on the side of looking for a reasonably priced ding guy now, given there is no guarantee I can fix my ding with one of these tools. In fact, I’m starting to think that I would probably make it worse:)

Yep, and that's my concern. I have spoken to a PDR tech in South of Adelaide and he said he has seen people have a go themselves and that it makes his job a lot harder, because sometimes owners stretch the metal using pullers.

I would say unless you totally ase it , it will/would not be 100%
Pulling /repairing dents is a black art ,skill =that only experience can teach.

As soon as you have a dent =you've stretched the metal sooo the art is massage the metal back to it's original shape/form and equally shrink to complete the 100% process.
