Hey guys,

Pretty down atm, bought a reco'd auto box 6000kms ago, yesterday it started making horrible burring / scrapping noises whilst sitting in park, and when you change to neutral, reverse, or drive it crunches hard for a good 5 seconds, anyone got any ideas on a problem? was gonna call RVO tomorrow anyway, cause they were the guys that installed it, but just incase any of you had any thoughts

thanks

From what I've read and had happen to me, it will be a sheared "sun gear"....very soon if not immediately it will seize. Fix is overhaul or another box unfortunately.

Futher Mucker...

Well, RVO say they have a 24 month unlimited km warranty on all change overs, i bought the box off a mate of daves who he does a lot of work for and it was just a worn-in full reco'd box (few thousand kms old).

So im hoping to god its covered, i cant afford another reco ha

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a sheared sun gear shell. The stock items are known for letting go as the base of them is pretty weak. Definitely a rebuild if it's gone so fingers crossed that you're still under warranty mate!
