yep pull the est fuse lose the est negative from the coil replace with the negative from the distributor connect the distributor pos+ to the big pos+ on the coil you've probably finished before reading this.

i used to drive it and advance it up as much as possible with out it pinging . Flaten it up a nice steep hill, otherwise disconnect and block up the vac advance and set it to 6 degree with the timing light idling in neutral will be all right, if nothing has changed where ever the idle speed is right should be pretty close assuming it was running all right b4. the module usually ends up pretty close to parallel with the oil pump usually where I start .

Regoed and test drive went good but....this is an old problem not really affecting driving
If I quickly step on and off the gas pedal in drive there is am almighty Bang coming from the back somewhere.
Does this sound like a diff?
Wondering if someone out there in fantastic commodores land can shed some light or point me in the right direction.
    Thanking all in advance

Where did you get the new gear from? Did you get a new coil to go with the new electronic distributor?

Those are rubbish. Get a good second hand bosch unit. I purchased one and it's no good - had over 40 degrees of mechanical advance and the mechanism isn't very good at all. Wouldn't advance consistently, whereas the bosch was progressive and provide the correct advance at the correct time. Older tech with bushes instead of bearings, but very well made.

Yep i thought of getting a good second hand unit but they aren't always easy to come by. Did you get the exact same one I linked to on ebay? It is cheaper than commys one. There are more expensive ones around but i do not know about the build quality.

Yes, got that exact box. Still have it in the shed. Ended up just using the ignition module, rotor button and cap on my old dizzy.

    Happy with it?

They sell a Fuelmiser model. Probably better build quality than the cheapies on Ebay...

Practically everyone says ditch the EST. There are quite a few on ebay but i don't know which are good and which are crap. Anyone got a link to a good one on ebay to get rid of the EST dissy on a black carby 202?
