Without wanting to tell anyone how to suck eggs, I thought I'd post this as reminder to anyone working under their car.....take the time to get it right.....don't want to be one of the 5 per year that get it wrong.

Yepp had a ratchet stand let go before. Luckily for me it was 20 seconds after sliding back out. I have never trusted ratchet stands since. I feel a lot safer using the pit at home. Unfortunately for most a pit is not something people have access too.

I use threaded stands. Wind them to the required height.

Yep, I've had a car go sideways that was on a jack and a stand, got lucky that the jack stand got wedged at an angle so I didn't have the full weight of the VS on my chest. be safe people.

I was expecting this thread to include home made airbags. I feel a bit disappointed but still upvibe about the information provided.

I always put the wheels under the sills when working on the ground. Even with stands it gives more peace of mind.

I was stupid enough years ago, where I got under my car supported just by a jack...End result was 9 stitches under the eye (where the eyelid meets the top of the cheek bone) and 6 stitches on the bridge of my nose.....I consider myself extremely lucky to still have my eye site in that eye

So every morning it's a reminder never do anything that stupid again

You haven't lived until you've swapped a gearbox using a bunch of poles.

Hope those support sticks after 3:15 are certified to DIN standards.
If not, this is dangerous.
