:bang: Hi all, Before you all say "God, not another camber kit thread " this is a bit different .
About 12 months ago I got one of those "Super saver " catalogues in the mail with a coupon for a 4 point camber kit for $395 fitted and wheel alignment. So I booked the car in and the guy had it all day , I picked it up handed over the $$$$'s and drove home and had a look underneath. Sure enough there was 4 new blue bushes ( cant remember the brand )so I was quite happy .
Then Friday I booked the car into Bob Janes to get a front end alignment .He asked if it was a series 1 or 2 VX , I told him it was a series 1 and he said good that will be easy . When I questioned him he said a series 2 has rear wheel adjustment too
I told him it had a camber kit in it so he said he will have a look and align the rear end too ( This was after he said rear camber kits aren't worth a pinch of **** ).After about 15 minutes he came back and said he has had three of his mechanics look at it and they all said there is no camber kit in the rear and I have been ripped off ,They have just put some blue bushes in .Then he said the camber and toe in on the rear end were way out which will chew out my rear tyres in no time and said I would benefit from a camber kit. ( the guy has just contradicted himself ). So I rang up the mob that put in the camber kit and told him the story he asked who done the alignment, When I told him he laughed and said they are a bunch of wankers and would have no idea. So on Monday I am taking it to the guy who put the kit in and he is going to show me how to do the alignment .
Should be interesting , will fill you in on what happens.

I bet is to see if your wheels are on an angle. If it seems to be little straight then I'm 80% sure the kit is installed. But who knows, better to find out to make sure.

sounds like u have a noltec camber kit..

blue bushes wrapped around a metal core with an centre offset hole, which when the bolt is inplace, by turning the bolt head, twists the metal cylinder inside the bushes, giving ur movement in the arms

loosen the nut a lil on one of the arm mount points, then with a spanner, turn the bolt head, u should see the arm move up or down..
    2 mount points per arm..

my local bob jane also didnt know about my camber kit, had to tell them how to adjust it.. hope this is simply the case for yourself.

Some tyre fitters will say this coz theres more work involved in adjusting the camber kit when u get a wheel alignment dun im sure its just their way of sayin they dont wanna do it??

Good example my old mans a tyre fitter he thinks they r a waste of time and money, his brother whos also a tyre fitter 4 a different company recomends them if needed well i know who im goin 2 go 2 if i need 1 fitted later on lol

Hi all, Well the mystery is solved. I do have a four point camber kit. I took it back to the guys who installed it and he put it up on the hoist and showed me what it looked like and how it is adjusted .He said he could do it now but it will take a few hours. i told him i was on my lunch break and might have to book it in for a later date . He asked where i worked and then organised one of his employees to drive me back to work . Then at 4.30 he rang me to say the car was ready and someone was coming around to pick me up . Hows that for service .So if you guys from STRUTFIT in Fowler Road Dandenong read this , You guys are Gold , thanks again for going out of your way to look after me with the drop of and pick up service. P.S Also they adjusted the front end after the front wheel alignment i got at Bob Janes , apparently the steering wheel was a fraction off centre . So there we go , Prob solved

from what i've been told stand well clear of bob jane for that sort of stuff and always take it to a suspension shop. Bob jane are tyre fitters thats what they do best.....from the mouth of a bob jane employee.:)

So many opinions on camber kits. If your car has a camber problem and it is not adjustable, get a kit fitted. The initial cost may be high but if you keep your car for a while it will pay for itself in tyre savings. Some places don't like them because there is a knack to adjusting them. Anyone who has done an alignment on a Valiant or a Ford Galaxy will know exactly what I am talking about. IMO, if you are chopping out rear tyres, get them fitted.
