nope. just everything off the front of the car.
hard part is bending the air conditioner heat exchanger up and out of the way without busting the lines.

Wow! I posted this question fully expecting to get "yes" replies. I went to 2 mechanics and 2 machine shops and they all said that i have to take the engine out of the car as its impossible to get the rear bearings out while the gearbox is still attached. They need to put a long rod through the front and using some sort of circular metal thingie, hit the rear bearing causing it to pop out off its place through the back.

Plz do tell how i can get the bearings out without removing the engine. I've already got the inlet manifold, rocker gear and the timing gear cover off.

Remove the timing chain, remove all the lifters, unbolt the camshaft and remove it. Then any machine builder will have the tools to remove and fit the bearings.

No,you do NOT have to take the engine out to remove the cam shaft.

"they all said that i have to take the engine out of the car as its impossible to get the rear bearings out while the gearbox is still attached."

Yes,it can be difficult, but NOT impossible.

So the engine noise you were getting before were the bearings?

Well that's good news...i think.

Any idea on the procedure? And precisely what tool i will need to get the job done? The tool below is usually used to remove cam bearings. If i am not mistaken...it pushes the last bearing out, making it pop out the back. I can't see how the bearing would pop off its place if the back is sealed.
