In dire need of knowing how it is supposed to look like! Particularly the light display, you know, the P R D 3 2 1
Sorry for bumping this thread but i had my gear console pulled apart for a week now trying to figure out how its supposed to look! I bought a used gear shifter console as mine's light bulb was cut from where is inside the little plastic thing that holds the bulb...and...the little plastic orange thing that is inside the console which shows what gear youre on was broken as well! But when i installed the new one, everything was ok except the orange plastic thing would be on the wrong gear. Like if i am on D, it would say R. I moved it to the center of the stick to get it to show the correct gear, but still it was off a gear or two. So i drilled a 5mm additional hole in the stick on the other side of the original hole... That worked for all the gears except Park. Basically when i put it on Park, the orange indicator would be between P and R. I also tried glueing a similar color piece of paper on a little transparent piece of plastic and attached it to the one in the gear to make it a little longer! Figured if it stops between P and R when i put the car on P, the extra length would reach P, that worked but when i put the shifter on jets say D, it would indicate that D and 3 are selected.., basicall it was a little too long! This is really frustrating and i got no idea whats going on! What am i doing wrong? Basically im thinking the little plastic thing with the gears displayed on it is supposed to be different! Got no clue! Suggestions?
Maybe your car doesn't have traction control and the donor car does? I believe all those selector plate pieces are shortened to allow for the traction control button.
