hi, when breaking in my vs sometimes while coming to a stop (moderate braking) the car sort of jolts forward and back and i can feel the brake pedle going up and down, no shaking in steering wheel etc just this, kinda like braking then pedal pushes up then braking (but a lot quicker), is actually dangerous sometimes. could it be the diff?? any help? thanks
it sounds exactly like warped brakes way to test remove wheal and put a steel ruller on the disk best done hot. i saw in the repco caterlog disks and pads for 100 bucks a pair
fully_carver is on the money - warped or distorted brakes....could be front or rear. Disks are cheap and an easy change..
Thats when you reach for the hammer!!! Note: if your not going to use the rotor again use a normal hammer (otherwise a rubber mallet). You kind of have to shock it to break its hold/seal. Sort of like using a spanner and hammer to shock a seized nut. (It think thats the term, 'shock', so dont crucify me if its not, im an accountant not a mechanic lol)
Yep sounds like the REAR brake rotors are possibly warped, if they were the front you would have your steering wheel shake, if there the back you will feel it in the pedal.
thanks guys will sus it out, i got a set of disks here mite try and change em one by one and see, as i got slotted disks all round (RDA front and DBA rear although they were bothe DBA front and rear i got em seconhand and the fronts warped straight away so it could be the backs, anyway got brake fad last night for the first time (scard me lol) buut i was useing them pretty hard etc) will get around to it and let yous no how it goes
Before you try and get the rotors off, spray around the bottom of the wheel studs where they come out of the rotor with a penetrating agent, such as Penetrene, WD40, RP7 etc. Let soak in for 5-10 mins before you try and remove the rotors. IMPORTANT - make sure you let the handbrake off before you try and remove the rear rotors.
