I know this has been covered multiple times with the whole double row timing chains but i ran into clearance problems that I haven’t read on any of the other posts,

ive got a vn series 2 3.8 that im about to rebuild, im in the middle of disassembling it and wanted to fit the mace double row timing chain ive got to check for clearances as i know people have had some issues, from things ive seen people post they’ve had problems with the oil pump but my first clearance problem seems to be the bolt that holds on the cam gear

probably more issues after that but thats my first one I’m trying to work around, any ideas?

Just remove the gear, leave shaft in place.

A picture is worth a thousand words ;)

On the 3800 V6 (VN-VR) models the balance shaft can be removed as it's dead weight once a double row timing chain is fitted. On ecotec models you MUST block the oil feed hole for the rear balance shaft bearing before it can be removed and discarded.

No need to fill the hole.
