Hi All got a 98 ute with ecotec Engine. Had it 3 weeks and had some problems when i got the car but cant iron out the last one. The car runs fine but when you go to hammer it it just bogs down and wont pull over 4000 rpm. Had to do coil packs when i got it so done leads and plugs. Replaced air flow meter no change to boggin down. May be low Pressure Fuel Pump ? Computer ? any other things ? any one had the problem before like this ? Cheers

+1, sounds like some form of blockage in the exhaust system, I remember when my Subaru's cat broke down and got blocked I couldn't get over 25km/h flat out...some cases are worse than others but yours might be the start of an internal breakdown of the honeycomb inside the cat

Also get your fuel pressure tested (any mechanic will do this for $10-15 as it only takes a few minutes)

Maybe also open your plenum and throttle body up and see if there is much build up, I have seen this issue before with gunked up throttles not allowing as much air as needed to pass through.

If it runs ok, but just wont go fast I'd replace the fuel filter as the first port of call.

Another thing it could be is the throttle position sensor playing up (if she bogs down on acceleration) but this should show as a fault on diagnostic scan.
