Finished welding the front tube work cleaned it up and primed it.
Also finished the diffuser after adding in a canard not to sure if I like how it looks but not sure if I like the looks but unsure what else to do? Cleaned it and laid some primer down but only on 1 side at this stage.

Ran out of mig gas so cant do any more welding at this stage.

Next few jobs will be Pull the motor/gearbox out.
Finish removing the sound deadening inside the cab.
Pull the rear scoop out and clean/prime it.

I'm also looking at mounting my wing higher up coming out of the bottom of the tailgate as I don't really like how it randomly sits in the diffuser. I will then have to cut some of the wing stands off at the top otherwise it'll be stupid high. What's everyone's thoughts of where it is mounted currently? I'll also need to add top braces to stabilise it but need my new tailgate before then.

Then that's all I can do until I get more mig gas and/or more money to get the motor build underway. In saying that my room mates said they might be moving out. That deducts quite a bit of my spare income as Mortgage repayments and everything that comes with it are a killer on a single income.

I ended up buying some VX HSV brakes 2 pot 330mm fronts 1 pot 315mm rears. They are basically brand new off some guy in SA.

Anyway more photos. Kinda using this a diary log for my build. Sorry for anyone with slow internet.

P.s - Ignore the huge camber on the front, struts arnt bolted in tight so the camber is all wrong. I also don't have any brake rotors on the car so the wheels sit in further then normal.

I dislike the spoiler, but I reckon where it is currently is good. Adds the the ridiculousness of it.

For a drift car I actually like the spoiler, if it was on a street car or race car yes I'd hate it but it sort of fits with this car.

Not much to update.

Rear diffuser has been painted black.
Got my brakes after some messing around with TNT loosing it for 2 days -...-
I reckon they have done maybe a few thousand km's at best. Although I got given 2x fronts/rears right hand side rotors, so the passenger side will be backwards as you can see in the photo.. Which is a pain but oh well, was cheap enough and they are genuine stamped HSV rotors/calipers. Cant really tell in the photo but theres a solid 3-4inchs between the caliper and the rim. the rotor forces my wheel to mount further out so I wont need to run a bolt on spacer on the front anymore.

Caliper is also bolted on the wrong side as bleed nipple is on the bottom but only just slapped them on to make sure they fit and to take some photos. Will take them off for paint then get them on the correct side.

Bought a new tailgate.

I entered into a FB competition with Kelford, ended up winning a custom ground cam to suit my car which is a huge bonus. Once they are ready to post it i'll order springs/retainers/pushrods to suit as well as a double row timing chain.

Planning on getting a set of Heavy duty clevite lifters as that's what my mate recommends and has a set in his turbo ute. Unless I save the cash and just throw in a set of LS7 lifters? Probably also do the trunion rocker upgrade.

Such a badass ute. Great work.

Thanks mate. Its getting there run out of motivation atm and money haha. :(

Read up on it but I thought all hsv discs were the one direction so one side will always be the wrong!

Also, love love love this build! Keep it up

Oh really? Suppose makes easy for mass production but seems detrimental to how well they work. Ill have to read up on that later and thanks heaps mate.

I originally was aiming for October Matsuri but when I started crunching numbers few months ago I realised i'd have to eat 2min noodles and become a hermit between now and then to make it. So I shifted it to the following Matsuri which is in March. Although the roommates are moving out end of June so i'll loose quite a bit of extra income until I can find new room mates. I've got enough time its just money haha.

Motor build - decided to just go down the freshened up bottom end rather then forged to save some money.
Clutch/flywheel/slave
rewiring
tune
Second turbo/gate.
Exhaust
Braided lines for turbo
Braided lines for PS Pump.
Need to stitch weld cab/tray
Get cage built.
entire fuel system. Lines, fuel cell, surge, pumps, injectors etc
Move steering rack forwards
Raise Diff
Prep and paint everything.
Few other bits and pieces need doing
Then I need new fluids

Then theres things like i'll need probably 20ish pairs of tires 250L of E85 Tickets for the actual event then food/water and so on.
I've also got mad street car cravings atm so the ute might go further on hold and i'll buy another SS ute or something. Ideally I want something with basic mods/cam done so I don't need to spend any money on it just drive it.
