Replaced the drivers seat in my vz crewman the other day with seats from a VT. I've noticed the old seat only had two electric prongs and where this one has 3.. At the moment it's connected so the seat moves at least but obviously I have a lose connection now, how do I rectify this?

Also since changing seat and charging battery as battery was flat I now get a SRS and airbag fault error.

I admit I'm pretty clueless with all this so any advice and guidance would be much appreciated.

It's my understanding I can't roadworthy the car with these errors? Was only roadworthied 3 months ago and due to being out of town didn't register now roadworthy has expired so was fixing the seat as the side trim snapped on the old one and seat was collapsed, before getting roadworthy again and now I have this issue. Frustrating to say the least.

You will probably find it is the " old seat only had two electric prongs and where this one has 3" is your airbag light issue..

Yeah I figured that much but can I splice the wiring or is it basically the seat isn't compatible with my car?

yes, and you won't have rear passenger airbags ,which are in the front seat, door side.

It threw the code because airbags have a capacitor which stores enuff power to set off the airbags,

you should have disconnected the battery, waited 15 mins for the capacitor to drain, then do the seat thing,

but with the non standard seat it still would've thrown a code, which you won't be able to remove as it can't find the airbag ,

Code removal is a tech 2 job.

You could try and track down an EL46841 .......

They aint rear passenger airbags, they are front passenger side airbags- built into seat, and not available until VT series 2 as an option.
OP, check your VZ seat for an SRS airbag tag- if it has this then you need to get an equivalent seat as I doubt your VT seat has it. Roadworthy will fail without this corrected.

Can't see an airbag tag anywhere on old seat.

The fact the battery was flat as a tack I didn't think to disconnect it when changing the seats :/

Why not just swap the covers and foams over. The rest is just steel.

Even swap the seat back to the original base and then swap the base foam and cover onto the original base.

An easy straight forward job that will leave all the factory functions as they were without stuffing about with wires and harnesses.

There are sharp edges so where some gloves.
YouTube shows lots of videos on doing this. Not specifically to Commodores but all seats are manufactured using similar techniques.

It’s all clips. The foams sit over the frame. The covers are stretched over the foams and clipped to the metal frame.

Handy tip before reinstalling the cover. Fix the foam.

This will give an idea.
