I took the engine cover off my SS the day I bought it.. Still going strong without it..

So I don't think it's a big deal at all..

It'll be fine. Don't stress.

Regarding the sound...
- Go out to car
- Open bonnet
- Take cover/s off
- Close bonnet
- Start car
- Listen... Drive... Listen

Answered your own question

Regarding the heat... Many people with V8's have been taking their covers off for years to help cool their engine. There is no problem doing it, they're pretty much just cosmetic.

Was a 1997 vt v6 wagon
It's only a cover to look pretty and to help dampen any engine noise. Had my old 3.8VT cover off for years, I noticed no differance.

At the end of the day its bit of plastic it isnt a state of the art piece of technology that " keeps " your car quiet. it could maybe keep your motor cooler if anything

The engine covers act as a heat trap, they make the engine bay look neater.
