Dual Mass or Rigid Flywheel?

Gday fellas,

Looking at replacing my clutch and flywheel. Just wondering what would give more power and what the differences would be between the two.

Which gives more power?
Which is more durable?

Ive currently got a dual mass but its on its last legs along with the clutch, ill be replacing the clutch with a heavy duty clutch.

I realize they dual may cost more but will it be truly worth it?

Never mind, have had a look around and looks like exedy hd with a solid would be the go.

If anyone still wants to discuss im open to suggestions dont plan on doing it for a while. Not enough $$

Yeah is that because theres a better power increase or just for the fact its quieter?

There are a couple of down sides to either solution.

Duel mass downsides
1. EXPENSIVE!!!!
2. If you start to add power (engine mods) the life of the flywheel gets shorter very quickly.
3. If you get the flywheel HOT (bad clutch control) the life of the flywheel gets shorter very quickly.
4. If you like to have spirited drives, legal of course, the life of the flywheel gets shorter very quickly.
5. Limited clamping pressure on the clutch plate.

Billet flywheel downsides.
1. NOISE. You will get a lot more audible noise from the gearbox, this is a little annoying, but normal for the GETRAG box.

Duel mass upside
1. NOISE. These keep the GETRAG nice and quite.
2. See rule 1.

Billet Upside.
1. Can be machined if you need to.
2. Can handle more HP.
3. Can handle larger clamping pressures.
4. Could keep going on but, you should be getting the picture by now.

You forgot to mention that you can't really machine the Dual Mass flywheel friction surface.

Yeah, So ive made my mind up on an Exedy HD clutch but what flywheel should i go for with that? (Not dual mass seeing as im doing the car up)

Kit doesn't come with a flywheel already?
