What do you do when the neighbour has his very own dunger yard happening in the backyard of of his shitsville home. This is the view from my friends parents back step.

Whats the right way to make him clean the joint up a bit?
I've never seen anyone at the house I don't think hes dead inside.
Its upsetting the old bloke before I call the towie and tell him to take them away as to why people leave cars to rot in the weather I have no idea.

Build a taller fence and let the guy have what he wants on his property. Issue solved.

We'd like him to keep the snakes on his own side of the fence is why I went there .

Councils generally only become involved where public health or safety are affected. It's not an offence to have a backyard that looks like an overgrown wreckers.

I'm sure there are a few VS owners who wouldn't mind a bit of a pillage too.

Would you consider a red-bellied black snake a hazard it pissed off back under the fence before I could catch it or picture it?
Would you let your grand children play in the backyard?
No idea if they are for sale as far as we can work out the owner is rarely if ever sighted in the last 5 years.

    There are plenty of options
Have you knocked on the door to see if the vehicles are for sale?
Get some cats from the pound, throw them over the fence to catch the snakes. Or snake traps ?
Tin of petrol and matches will clear it out.

If the yard has the potential to create a hazard for neighbours, as per the public safety I mentioned, the council might then intervene. Only one way to find out.

Definitely is an offence. Constitutes illegal disposal and probably illegal contamination of a site. Contact the EPA and keep onto them until they get action.

How do you arrive at that decision if he owns the place? He doesn't have to live in it to own it. A few years back, my sister, who is intellectually challenged, was ordered to reduce the number of birds she kept following the old bitch behind her complaining to council. She wasn't a licensed breeder and the bird seed and crap was a magnet for vermin. The whole yard was a dump and old bitch moaned about that too but council was only concerned with the health aspects with the vermin. She had to get rid of most of the birds to satisfy council regs. The yard remained a pigsty until I eventually travelled up the coast to clean it up.

I would either wait until I saw him or leave a nice note for him, I would hate for someone to contact council on me for having cars in my yard( current count is in double figures). I keep mine tidy though and if someone contacted council on me it would make me be passive aggressive and buy more cars.

Assuming the land is in Morwell, the council bylaws can be found here - http://www.latrobe.vic.gov.au/files...f2db4f/Local_Law_No2_adopted_15_June_2009.pdf

    93. DANGEROUS AND UNSIGHTLY LAND
93.1 An owner or occupier of land must not allow the land to:
    (a) become unsightly or detrimental to the general character and amenity of the
neighbourhood in which it is located; or
    (b) harbour unconstrained rubbish; or
    (c) contain disused excavation or waste material; or
    (d) store disused machinery or vehicles or for the assembly or
dismantling of such machinery or vehicles; or
    (e) pose a danger or a risk to people or property in the vicinity.

He should cut the grass around the cars....Other than that, snakes can hide anywhere.....Sheet, my inlaw lives in the Riverland....Property is tidy...Grass cut short, no rubbish lying round etc etc, yet he has a friendly brown hanging round.

I also went to a tyre wholesaler 2 weeks ago.....Has a large drain one side and short grass paddock behind it...Other side is a factory and across the road is a bitumened yard, with heavy machinery in it.....The tyre wholesaler had a water pipe for the sprinkler system burst, which lead to a 4' brown being spotted inside the warehouse. This wholesaler is located in surburbia

Just put these up as examples that snakes can turn up anywhere...City and country....

I have a mate ( no, not like your mates cousins best friend at the pub ) who has been appointed executer of a deceased estate (NSW) which is so deep in legalities it is beyond a joke. He has no potential financial interest in the property, other than recovering his past legal costs, if he is lucky.
Last week he was issued a clean-up order from the council for long grass (fire hazard) for which he personally responsible, or personally face a fine and cost of council clean-up.
So, councils can wave and use a big stick.

So maybe instead of posting on a car forum about calling a tow truck to take his cars away you should be phoning the police to do a welfare check on the guy?
