Dynamat Install

Hi guys,
i have just purchased some new front spilts and also some dynamat.

i am just wondering where to put the dynamat, do i put it inside the door, or just where the original plastic stuff that sticks on the door is.

pretty sure mate take off that plastic crap and cover the door, try fill the empty holes with 3mm mdf

You put it on the outer skin and the inner skin. But you seal the access holes of the inner skin with 3mm MDF, as mentioned, but you should paint the 3mm MDF with a waterproof paint so it doesn't soak up any water.

normally thick dynamat on the door skin INSIDE door
and a thin layer on where the plastic goes but a lot of people will just cover the holesnot the entire thing where the
clear plastic goes onto as it makes it hard to refit door card!~
putting it on the skin inside the door stops noise escaping the car
putting it on the inner part and sealing the door itself makes it like a sub box using the door cavitie itself as a box!~

thanks for the replies guys, i thought it was on the inside mainly, thats going to be a bitch of a job to get it in there!! unfortunately it is going to have to wait over a fortnight as i have work and chrissie stuff...bugger

Thats the deadening on my car. The outer skin was done, Dynaxorb pads behind the speakers, MDF speaker mounts - much more solid than the crappy plastic pods, baffle to seal the service hole at the bottom and dynamat over everything.

Langas, what did you do to make the MDF speaker mounts, just take the originals and make them in mdf??? not a bad idea.

Maybe i need to get some more dynamat, me thinks i may only have enough to do the outside of my doors, dont really want to waste 400buck speakers without doing the job properly, i think i may also have to wait and get the job done properly over a weekend.

Good Move,

I had clearance issues with my Focals (they are rather deep) so that was the main thing that prompted me to give the stock cups the flick. I basically traced a template out onto some cardboard then cut it out in 18mm MDF.

On the door skin I did roughly half the top and the whole bottom section, and the whole inner skin (as you can see).

The best bit...the door now gives an awesome 'thud' when its closed.....like a nice merc or bmw
