vs ute
Hey guys i come from a jap performance backround and have a small business in vic build import track cars, we got a vs ute as a work ute to hall engines and crap around and we are looking at doing a few mods to get some more punch out of this slug.
What i wanted to know was, is there anyone/workshops doing any back to back runs on the dyno with parts mods?
for example do a run when the car is stock, add exhaust and cold air and rerun, do comparison. add in some higher ratio rockers and a ecu tune and do another run and so on.
Just wanting to find a descent list of gear we can do with proven results as i seem to see a lot of "this exhaust gives 10kw" and "with cold air and yella terra rockers you could see 30% more power".
I want some raw data from people who have done these mods and have something to show the gains.

anyway some things we had in mind with out going into it to far.
-cold air set up
-extractors
-1.9:1 rockers
-plenum spacer
-ecu tune

we already have a 2.5" exhaust on it but cant stand the note these things put out, we call it the invisible car as it rumbles but as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator the noise just disappears hahaha.

also what are people using for tuning? any plug and play ecu's common for vs ecotechs? we have dyno facilities and everything, just need to know a descent combo to work with as we dont want to donate to much of our time researching an ideal set up.

Also if anyone has some of the parts above let me know as we would prefer to buy second hand gear than new stuff as its only a work thrasher.
Thanks for your time guys ill wait for some replies.

Ok sorry guys its a vr not a vs haha shows how much we know about commodores hahaha.

anyway from what i found the stock v6 injectors are only 195cc so at 3 bar they should be good for around 180hp at the fly which is sweet fug all.
we would like to make atleast 160-180kw at the wheels so around 280-300hp at the flywheel.
at 3 bar we would need around 300cc injectors to get there saftely on 80% duty.
if we lean on it a bit out to 90% and raise rail pressure to 4bar we should only need around 220-250cc injectors.

what sort of injectors are available for these vr engines? can we use like the 5lt ones or supercharged ones or something?
also do people just use a generic fuel reg like a malpassi or something or are there regs designed for commodores?

but did you have a tune on it or just the bolt ons?
no good going to far with bolt on's unless your able to manipulate the air flow and fuel control.

any chance of remaping stock ecu's?

i have plenty of my tuning graphs over the past 5 years. Each one was after a mod. Back in the day she started at about 115rwkw (i think it was) right up til now with 187rwkw.

I started with mods like simple cat back, then extractors, roller rockers....

Its good to look back on them to see how the performance has progressed up to today

I will try to dig up the graphs if you are interested?

the delco is very tuner friendly. no point in getting a aftermarket job. most people won't need to upgrade injectors with bolt on's only. the super6 injectors are a great upgrade if you do require bigger injectors . there 36lbs jobbies. personally i don't like rising rate regs.

if your into your own tuning check this site delcohacking.net • Index page they do some mods for the stock ecu that allow realtime tuning. might be just what your after. software available there also. there is also Kalmaker, which do delco harware/software packages but cost a arm and a leg if your doing a 1 off tune for your own ride. more designed for workshops that specialise in holdens/delco etc

there aren't actually many hi-po n/a V6 out there(at least not on this site), most go the FI route. it works out cheaper for big power.
