Hi all....only started learning about engines and mods 2 months ago when i bought my VR...After lots of great reading on this forum and others and mags i know much more then previous. Anyway bought a chip off Ebay before i was aware of Doctor bob and Greenfoam who are on these forums...
With these current mods on my car....vs s/c cai, bellmouth removed (thinking of putting it back in -- yes or no ), redback 2.5 catback exhaust, hi-flow cat and the ""new chip" i had my car dyno'd today. And the result with the new chip was an increase of .3kw
Standard Chip = 110.1kw
Ebay Chip = 110.4kw and lost power between 5000 - 5250rpm
So for all the newbies out there IT IS NOT WORTH THE 150+ $$

Think i will acknowledge all the posts of here and contact Doctor Bob or Greenfoam (does greenfoam do v6 memcals, i have only seen v8 ones of ebay from him) :bang:when dyno results came in!!!!!

Was it on the same dyno? dyno's can vary from day to day and cant always be accuarte, it also comes down to what condition the rest of the mechanicals/electrics in your car are but .4 sounds a bit ridiculous id its true, does it feel fater by driving it or not?

Post up the name of the seller so others can be warned about it, especially if its just a plain old stock standard chip. Greenfoam does vn-vs v6 & v8 memcals for any N/A purpose. Although if its a vr-vs chip you are better off sending your own to him instead of getting one outright as it will be a much quicker transaction.

Bellmouth- keep it out if you dont mind a rougher idle, but at the same time i dont think its worth taking/leaving it out for the relitevely small gain you get which is just a slight gain in response

Yes...was done on the same dyno...ran the new memcal then put the old one back in and ran it again. My vr has only 145000k's was 143000 when bought 2 months ago...must of been owned by an older couple, and is in pretty good condition mechanically i think. Seller is the well known Blackstar7000.
Now i have a spare memcal....i have one to send away and keep my car on the road, i guess that is a bonus! Car may feel a tiny bit faster but hard to tell cause i just got the redback exhaust fitted that very morning (man my car sounds ANGRY now...it is damn loud) so i thought a dyno will give me the answer. Oh forgot to mention the extractors i have whacked on as well (wildcat).
Bellmouth- my car does not really idle rough at all without it in place..... i am of the thinking atm that evenly flowed air intake will be better for the engine... In your opinion/experience is the bellmouth removal really worth it.... will the engine run more efficiently with it in.

The mufflers will quieten once they bed in which takes about a week so dont get too used to the loudish sound.... The bellmouth is worth it for a free modification as i said you get a bit more response but nothing more than that, when i said idle rough i dont mean rough as guts but you will notice a differance versus if it was still installed the bellmouth curves the air into the t/b (as well as blocks air a little) giving the smoothest idle possible. The vr v6 is more refined than the vn-vp v6 so i would imagine it wouldnt be all so bad (havent done it to a vr v6)

And ive seen blackstar on there for a long time, i thinkhe was one of the orginal guys on ebay doing chips?? i read his feedback and chose not to get one at that point in time when greenfoam wasnt selling on ebay : )

So your input is not needed because if there was a problem you should leave it to Jason, not yourself or anyone else which has nothing to do with our business.

our input is not needed? wow gosh, considering you rely on a tuner who relies on peoples input to perfect tunes id think twice before telling us input as nothing to do with your business lol.

humm... maybe ill go get the VR tuned by Dr. Bob
