Well after reading a bit more i think i will stick with Greenfoams Memcal as lots of people seem to be very happy with these. Would it be best for me to install my Cold Air Intake before purchasing the memcal to add to my more free flowing exhaust? Also Greenfoam do you have any sort of guarantee on your memcal incase it doesn't perform properly etc incase it runs to lean or rich or not correctly? Also is that all it really is, just a reprogram of the fuel management etc? Does it actually work well as all im looking for is a little bit more power and better overall response.

The reason i ask is I don't want to waste my money or damage my car which is a VS V6 Ute. Last of all what would happen if i then installed other bolt on mods such as Extractors after the new memcal?

Please PM if you want or post back here
Thanks
Matt

Matt, Blackstar does a much less aggressive tune than me, honestly it's hardly any differnt to stock only about 2 degrees more advance. I really don't think there would be any noticable gain on that. I stick it to everything fairly hard but allways leave enough headroom spare that they are totally safe unless I'm asked to go for everything on 98 octane. But typically I set them for roughly 91-95, best on 95 but runnable on 91 if you have to kind of thing. You can go all the way to full exhaust and rockers on a VS V6 without changing the tune at all, the maf sensor just adds more fuel the more it breaths. But yes on a VS V6 all I do and all anyone pretty much does is change the two main spark maps, It much less complex than the earlier map based tunes which almost allways need VE/Fuel map changes. Even without fuel changes with more advance and more power at the same load you will allways see a gain in economy, I don't really mind who you get one from but that's how it is ^. I wont do a weak tune on any car but I'm not crazy either :), if you want one > ebay

Awesome m8 thanks for the quick and well explained help. I hopefully will grab one asap. So does that mean that you would give the same memcal/ecu to someone who has a stock VS compared to a VS with a catback and cold air intake? If so i guess i can grab one asap and do the cold air intake after.

Well then last of all how much is it in total as i am not sure if i understood your ebay page correctly  Is it $108 dollars in total including postage for you to send the memcal to my address which allows me to test out the new memcal and if i think there is no need to keep the original i then send that back and get a $50 refund/deposit back? Have i got that the right way around?

If so i will hopefully purchase one tomorrow and what do i need to include on the ebay page? Just model/year/displacement and any major mods or small ones also? And when u say these can run on 91, 95 or 98 octane fuel which would u recommend i run it on as i am young and poor lol but if it will do me better in the long run engine wise and in terms of better mileage for a little more $$$ i then could probably justify it. Because i hear people say that premium although more expensive pays for itself because it gets more kms? Is that true and if so I am guessing you would recommend at least 95. But the memcal can adjust for any of these 3 cant it?

Thanks heaps and i cant wait
Matt

Well this is not really the right place to be talking ebay sellings but yes everything you said above is ok by me. No tuned car should really run less than 95 octane, like you say it wont cost you anymore in the long run, if you want to run 91 all the time keep the stock tune. Go to Ebay > for more infos

vs commodore V6 S2 and a BA XR6T
can you do a tune so the auto changes a little harder/faster from first to second?? as i know the vs dont change as hard and quick as the vn/vp does cause its electronic....if so would it cause any damage or would it make the box last longer?

Even on the 4L60Es the hard + fast shift is controlled with a valve body kit, a larger apply piston (corvette servo), and a bigger boost valve (and all the other associated bits in a standard shift kit). That fast shift is all to do with how much fluid pressure is present, where and when it's present, and how long the clutches spend "butlering" the gears for you during shifts. :)

My car was being run on about 50/50 std/premium when i did those runs, but it is premium only now, and the hains are even more noticable

lol I hear pings all the time and honestly don't know what it is.. could well be 500,000+++ kms worth of hot carbon on a piston that's blowtorching that chamber.... who knows :p
