your vn is a series 2... some series 1 vns dont work with after market tachos.

bro, half the people on these forums cant get a tacho working including me. Do a search and see how many people complain about that wire not working. The voltage on the wire is too low for most tachos to respond to.

Ive got a speco tacho and got it working off the wire behind the cluster. I can also get it working from that brown wire near the left strut tower.

what, so some tachos detect that its in a commodore and automatically sets itself to "commodore mode" and increases the voltage?

Like i said before, the wire on the struttower and a few other wires do not work with aftermarket tachos on some vns
