G'day all,

My shifter on my VX SS is worn and sloppy (249K kilometres) and it hits the console all the time shifting into 2nd. I've looked at getting a new one, but I think genuine replacement is quite expensive. I've considered the Ripshift but $485 is a bit out of my price range.

Just wondering if anyone has used these shifters off eBay? Seems a bit cheap.

Thanks Steve

Do MACE engineering have a shifter kit for these? They have some kits but I have never looked into it, so can not confirm. If they do, the product would be of a high standard.

You can buy a replacement bush for the factory shifter for around $30 to $40 to get rid of the sloppiness

In regards to T56 short shifters:
I have the genuine Ripshifter, but I've also driven a few cars fitted with fake Ripshifters like the millions that are for sale on Ebay
My personal opinion is that the Rip shifter is the original and the best, anything else is just a cheap knock off

Do some research on these cheap ebay shifters.............They are cheap for a reason

I have replaced the bush at the bottom of the shifter already which made no improvement, in fact it's made it harder to get it into gear. The sloppyness appear to be in the pins that join the gear shifter to the shifter linkage itself.

I have the standard shifter from my VX GTS when I converted it, at 48k kms, to a Ripshift ($660 back in the day). You can have the standard shifter for $40 pickup - I'm in Vermont South. Pm me if you are interested.

A few weekends ago I finally managed to get the shifter I brought of BlackVXGTS in my car. Undoing the allenkey bolts holding the shifter in was a real pain in the backside but I got it done.

I was interested to note that the shifter from BlackVXGTS's car was a shortshifter compared to my original shifter.

I'm quite happy with the end result. Its much tighter than it has ever been. Maybe once the Torana is finished I might save up for a RipShifter.

Thanks for the update. Sometimes we never get to hear about the end result.
