vs ute 3.8
I've just changed out a blown motor in a VS S3 ute.
The motor turns but wont fire.

Ive read through loads of thread all afternoon to try to find similar issues.

I've changed out fuel pump, fuel filter, new leads

I tried to get error codes using paperclip, but the check engine light does not come on at all?!?

The injectors from the original motor were blue/green the new motor has black ones. could this be an issue?
I've checked a spark plug they are dry.

The motor was blown when I got the ute, so I don't know the history of car

Have you checked you have fuel pressure? It's fairly easy to mix up the fuel lines at the tank and connect the return line and feed line in reverse order.

For a starting point, I would try some aerosol like Start Ya Bastard in the intake when cranking.
If it coughs and fires, you have a fuel problem. If there is nothing, you have a spark problem.

Use at your own risk, when Start Ya Bastard is not on hand, I have used WD-40, Brake Cleaner, Throttle cleaner and more.

Could just be a blown bulb if engine light does not some on. Hopefully not that the PCM is cactus.
You said "no spark".
Did the replacement engine come with DFI module and coils? You could try swapping them. Also check harness that plugs into DFI module; it could be cracked and a pin has pushed back. And crank angle sensor - is that plugged in correctly?

thanks for your suggestions. Ive done some more investigation.
the bulb behind the check engine light is functioning. I tried multiple bulbs from different dash lights to be sure.
i'm getting spark on all coils, but no fuel to the rails.

Ive narrowed it down to the fuel system.
Ive bought a new fuel relay it has made no effect, I've checked the fuel pump intake and return it appears to be correct, But there is no fuel being pumped from the tank. I've checked voltage at the pump relay with power on its pulses to 9.3 volts.

But the pump does not prime when ignition is turned on.

After the engine has been cranking for 5-10 secs, I can hear the pump whirring.

Any suggestions....

Some checks to work through from the Gregory’s manual. You mentioned you’d replaced the pump.

Followed suggestions above.
Start-ya-bastad cough, fires and stops.
The checks as shown in the pics (thanks Grimes) no test light comes on.
When I short the relay using wire from pos to neg the pump starts and runs. I can here the fuel travelling through the line in the engine bay, but still won't fire.
I'm starting to think it might be faulty ecu

None of the smaller relays work tho. Thermo fan, low engine pressure and fuel relay. They all work when shorted out using wire from pos to neg.

There are ground connections that need to connected.
If you have no spark at all. possibly it could have something to do with the ground connection, or the DFI.
Check to make sure there is no damaged pins on the DFI plug, and it is in correctly plugged in and the securing nut it tight.
Another way to test to make sure the engine may not have a ground, get hold of a pair of jumper leads and use on lead to connect to the engine and the body in the engine bay, then try and start it.
If you think it’s fuel, check the voltage at the wiring near the fuel pump with a multimeter.
