Gday! just a few questions about fuel systems that im unsure about.

my injectors shiat themselves on my VS v6, and i replaced them with a new VT v6 set. Yes ive heard that they dont clean up too good when cleaning time rolls up, but hey, i got the set for cheap! Anyway, ive also been informed that they flow 20cc more than VS injectors? is that true, does that mean i should upgrade my regulator too, or are they exactly the same?

    Thanks for any help

An injector will only flow as much as the ECU tells it to. The flow rate is a maximum rate, this is what the injectors can handle. Unless the injectors are worn, they will clean up fine. Getting new seals fitted when they are done is a must too.

VT injectors in a VS actually flow less than what the standard VS ones do. this is because the VT runs at a higher psi, 3.5bar i believe, while the VS only runs at 3bar.
so the flow rate is affected because the VT injectors are supposed to run at a higher psi to what VS ones do.

The place i bought them from is an injection and carby specialist. I specifically asked if the VT injectors would be compatible for my VS, and they said yes. Also adding that they are rated to flow 20cc more then VS ones.

What do u mean by "VT runs at higher psi"? do u mean the regulator allows 3.5 bar thru? or do u mean the pump pressure is 3.5 bar? (im confused) So are you trying to say that i need a VT regulator to match?

The car seems to run fine at the moment, but if it need further rectification i'll do it.

ofcourse they are compatible - its the same engine, but the fuel system and regulator on a VT run at 3.5bar, not 3bar like a VS.
an injector will flow at different levels acording to the pressure its under.
from memory a VT injector flows at something like 14lb @3bar and 16lb @3.5bar - while a VS injector does 19lb @3bar. (give or take)
you wouldnt notice much difference driving around with VT injectors and they'll work fine, but they do flow less than VS ones, which is the only point im trying to make.

It's no real problem as the ECU & o2 sensors would take care of it, but you could swap the fuel rail/regulator from a Vt/Vx to lift the pressure up.

There is a problem with cleaning the 0280155777 injectors in the Vt and later Ecotecs, some workshops suggest to replace them only. I've had mine cleaned and flow tested only to have a problem again soon after.
All new ones now, going good:thumbsup:

Would this be affecting my power delivery, and max output at WOT much? If so i might grab a VT regulator to make sure everything is running properly before i get a retune.

i might be wrong about this, but a wreckers once told me that the VT regulator is part of the fuel rails, so they come as a whole. this may have been just an effort to sell me the whole thing, i dunno - i didnt really want it anyway.
as for it effecting your total hp, it might start to starve a little up top, it really depends.
