ok i read somewhere that some vs were released with some ecu/memcals with tunes that made the engines miss when cold, has anybody heard or expiranced this, and is there a possibility i have this ecu/memcal,

the reason being is like i have posted before my car has a miss when you hit the accelerator only when the engine is cold, ive had my car on the diagnostics machine at tafe and there was no faults detected after running the tests

    misses when cold aye?

Check the gap on your spark plugs?

Are the plugs and leeds any good?

    Air/Fuel filter any good?

everything is new and tripple checked, thats why im clutching at straws,

a experienced mechanic where i work at said hes had a few vs's that are pretty fussy with what plugs you put in them and have the same symptoms as what ive got, so ill go and get some genuine delcos or ngks that holden have.

i was thinking it may be tune related as i just had a bit of a good trip in my car and it now dosnt appear to be as bad but still there

yea there was a definition that fixed the hesitation from idle.. cant remember which, but yes there was a factory one..

have you a bored out throttle body? my hesitates from idle on a quick burst..

ok, i remember reading that on some throttle bodys, the butterfly had an X marked on it.. some actually had a lil hole drilled where the X normally sits.. this may be a fix to ur solution, drill a 2mm hole where the X is..

attached is a pic of the X on mine

Best if you remove your ECU and drop out the memcal, take the blue cover off it by lifting one end and tell us what the 4 letter code is on the alloy label.
It will be something like BSTK or BWPJ. This way we can tell you if there is any gains by swapping Memcals.

For your infomation f you go to Dr Bob's site http://www.memcals.com/ under info he has a listing of all the Vs Memcals that were used.

The VL's were bad for this, advancing the cam timing one tooth usually fixed it. Couldn't do that on a VS though. Try a bottle of injector cleaner.

BTXP replaced BSTK1451 to fix cold hesitation and pinging in the VS 3.8L.

That's correct but Vs v6 had 4 wire heated or 2 wire O2 sensors, so it's best to find out what he has first.

so i suppose i have the problem memcal,

next step, should holden replace this for nothing? was it a recall or anything?

I'd try Holdens out on that. They replaced my coils on my VN after 80,000kms when it was about 5 years old (Ithink thats about right)
