VS Commodore 'S' pack.
I have coolant leaking from the thermostat housing. I bought a new thermostat and gasket. Well the bloke at repco gave me an O ring instead of a gasket which he said is used now in place.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct as the gregorys has a gasket.
Cheers

I think it goes around the rim of the thermostat and you just put it in the bottom part and put the cover on and bolt it up.
I didn`t try it.
I just got the GM gasket 92060714.

I think the o-ring is for the supercharged 6
when re assembling just check the thermostat housing where it mates to the manifold, if it is flat other wise you might just get another leak down the track

I made my own gasket after not being able to get one when I needed it. Engine recoers gave me the centre from a diff gasket and I cut it out of that. Two weeks later i found one in the glove box, that obviously the previous owner had left in there.

There was no place where the O ring would fit. Tried but it wouldn't seal. Luckily I have a work van I was able to head to supercheap and get a gasket for under $4.

Usually use gasket maker with anything cooling related. Sometimes thermostat gasket and rtv on both sides but most of the time I just use silicone gasket maker on my own cars.
