i can swear that my missus car has it in for me, she's complaining about belt noise this week so when she got home this arvo i pop the bonnet to take a look. one edge of the belt is worn, you can see where all the rubber is deposited around it's travels through the idlers etc and it's less then a year old. one idler is stuffed, the tensioner is suspect, the waterpump has minor play in it also and another idler is also suspect. so it looks like a new water pump, 2 idlers, tensioner and serpentine belt:bang:
i feel your pain mate! just after i bought my vs calais had to overhaul the entire cooling system but its all sweet now:thumbsup: i spose the vr-vs models are getting into that time bracket where things can start failing best thing to do is try to keep them well maintained
yep ive been told by a few mechanics that once a car hits between 10-15 years things will start failing! it probably wont be to long for the vt to move into that bracket and i spose some are there already now.
Yeah tell me about it. 3 months after i got my VS the auto packed it in. I effectively got the car for free though (thats a whole other story) so the cost of rebuilding the gearbox didnt hurt the pocket too much. But yeah as the others have said, they are getting to the age where alot of problems start to surface.
yep, the list is getting longer by the day of things repaired or replaced on this beast. my VN never gives me trouble like this one does, or maybe it's just the fact that i have repalced lots of stuff on that over a much longer period?
i feel ur pain after an hour of getting my car changed to manual driving home i start to hear belt noise andf then smoke starts pouring into my car from my gear stick, freaking out i pulled over thinking my car was on fire ripped everything out my centre console to have a look nothinhg there. drive down the road to my g/f house so see my fan belt completly shredded half stuck into the alternator black rubber all over my engine my belt tesioner had melted.
