Hey guys, intermittently when starting my VY, about 3-5 seconds after starting the engine there is a violent clunk and a chirp from the serpentine belt and the tacho drops about 200-300rpm before recovering.

The idler pulleys have been replaced not too long ago and the belt doesn't slip at full throttle.

I assume this is caused by the aircon compressor engaging. It seems to be worse on hot days or when the car hasn't been driven for a while. When i turn the aircon on and off manually the compressor engages and disengages smoothly though?

Also sometimes when i stop at the lights after ~5 seconds of idling i can hear what sounds like the compressor engaging/disengaging and the tacho drops about 100rpm before recovering.

Any ideas what might be wrong?

Cheers!
