Hi guys wondering if anyone has any clips of any custom catbacks or full exhausts they got made up at an exhaust shop for their ecotecs. Asking as online i couldnt find any "custom" exhaust clips for it - mostly seen ebay exhaust videos...

Can anyone also recommend any setups with a somewhat quiet exhaust (SA legal 90 db) with a smooth refined nice purrr of the exhaust thats all.

I don't have a suggestion for a set up but I can recommend 2 exhaust shops around Salisbury

First one is exhaust plus Park Tce....Had a system done by them about 20 years ago.....Was more than impressed...The muffler stuffed up after 16 years....The rest of the system was still fine...

Another one is complete exhausts Main Nth Rd Brahma lodge

I got my exhaust done by them a month or 2 ago for my VC.....They did more than I asked for...Cost for a 2 1/2" on a 6cyl blue was $450....So it didn't break the bank either....Sound is nice

The reason I didn't go back to exhaust plus at the time was because they were booked solid for a week and complete could fit me in 3 days later from my call

Just buy a manta.
The commodore is so common the off the shelf systems are optomised as far as you can go with a moo mang.

What's your opinion on everlast mufflers in ridgehaven? Quoted 670 including tips. The car is in extremely good nick and thinking of keeping it for atleast a few years, if not for a long time.

I went to exhaust plus to inquire and got quoted $450 + tips (100-200) depending on what I want. I asked them what brand mufflers they use and they said only redback. Price point was good but the only redback muffler threw me off. Also same thing, next booking available was end of the month.

I also contacted some other shops around Adelaide but they quoted me 800-1000 for the same material (aluminized mild steel). Some (I wont name) quoted me 600-700 to source and install catbacks you find on ebay. -_- I even asked whats the difference between the ones you use and the ones you can get off ebay. They said no difference...

Also have you got any clips of your old exhaust? Im sick of hearing loud ebay exhausts.

Thanks for your help :)

They likely only use Redback as that is what they supply so they get good mark ups on them.

I asked them and they said they use a variety of different brands (i cant remember the whole list) that they showed me when I went to their shops. They said I can stay at the shop during installation and they can try different setups before finalising.

Complete and exhaust plus quoted identical prices....I got lukey mufflers through complete....IMA I didn't get a tip from them...I was a bit of a tight ass and bought a generic SCA one, which set me back about $30.....I also have another one here, that came off a 2 1/2" system, but for some strange reason it doesn't slide over the tip...It's identical in diametre, which means I'll have to weld it on, if I want it...Really strange...

As for clips of my old VC exhaust...No unfortunately....I can say it had a redback muffler which stuffed up after 16 years...This is where my experience with exhaust plus comes from.....From there I put on a 2nd handie for a couple of years......From the 2nd handie, I changed motors....went from a red to a blue, which required a different fit up at the extractors, hence getting the 2 1/2" with a lukey muffler from complete...

When complete did my system, I asked for it to be flanged at the extractors....Easier to remove the motor then....Not only did he flange it there, he also flanged the tailpipe, just after the muffler, so I can remove that too...I didn't ask for that, but I'm definately not knocking it....No extra charge for that modification ....He also supplied all the exhaust rubbers, because I took the car there, minus exhaust system....So all up it was $450 for all the rubbers, flanging, supply and fit the system.....

Here's a link where a member that has years of exhaust experience has put his thoughts on what lukey mufflers are like

As for Everlast at Ridgehaven...Haven't heard anything about them...Good or bad...So sorry I can't help there

So i have a VY acclaim and had a system which was pacemaker 2.25" into a factory cat then through a Lukey 2.5" catback. It wasnt a good system and had the very typical drone thats is normal for a v6 commodore.

After 1.5 years i upgraded with the help of a user here Not_an_abba_fan and he recommended a Manta catback system instead which is a twin 2.25" mufflers into a 3" single with resonator. When i did the change i also added highflow cats and it got rid of the horrible v6 drone and was much nicer when just driving around town but when put the foot down its nice and loud.

Video below of a take off with the system.

I've been so happy with the system that when I got my LS1 WH Statesman a month ago and it had a stock exhaust i went with a twin 2.5" manta catback for it and have been extremely happy again with it.
